On-device compression

Privacy Policy

Video Compressor – Reduce Size processes selected videos locally on your Android device. The app does not upload video files to our servers and does not require an account.

The short version Videos stay on your device. There is no account and no video upload. Compressed videos and extracted audio are saved to shared media folders you control. When Firebase is configured, the app may send coarse analytics and crash diagnostics that do not include video contents, filenames, paths, or content URIs. This version does not show ads.

Information processed on your device

When you select a video, the app reads technical properties needed to compress or extract audio (for example duration, dimensions, size, and whether an audio track is present). Processing happens on the device through Android system APIs and Media3 Transformer.

A local history record may contain display names, byte sizes, dimensions, duration, output URI, creation date, and whether an item is video or extracted audio. This history is stored only on your device, is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, and can be removed from the app. Removing a history entry does not delete the saved media file itself unless you choose that option where available.

Capture metadata (such as recording date) and GPS location are removed from compressed video outputs by default. If you enable “Preserve metadata,” common capture fields may be copied into the saved output. Precise location is controlled by a separate “Preserve video location” option, remains off by default, and is copied only when both options are enabled.

Storage and sharing

Compressed videos are written through Android MediaStore to Movies/Video Compressor/. Extracted audio is saved to Music/Video Compressor/. Those outputs can remain after the app is uninstalled and may be deleted through your gallery, music library, or file manager.

Sharing or opening an output occurs only after you choose Share/Open and select a destination app. That destination’s privacy practices then apply. Original source videos are never changed automatically. On supported devices, deleting an original requires your explicit system confirmation after export.

Cached partial files are removed after completion, cancellation, or a handled failure; Android may also clear app cache.

Analytics and crash reporting

When Firebase is configured for this app, Firebase Analytics may collect coarse, non-content events such as feature used, preset category, whether trim was used, coarse duration/size buckets, batch size buckets, and whether an operation succeeded or failed. It does not send video or audio contents, content URIs, filenames, or private capture metadata as analytics parameters.

Firebase Crashlytics may receive crash and non-fatal diagnostic information for reliability. Google processes this information under its Privacy Policy.

Advertising

This version of the app does not show ads and does not integrate an advertising SDK. If ads are added in a future release, this page and the relevant store disclosures will be updated before that version ships.

Your choices

You can turn metadata/location preservation off, remove local history records, delete saved videos or audio through your device’s media apps, or uninstall the app to remove app-private data.

Children's privacy

The app is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older. The app itself does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes how information is collected, used, or shared, this page and the relevant store disclosures will be updated before that version is released. The latest version of this page will always show the effective date below.
