Privacy Policy
QRBar scans and creates QR codes and barcodes on your Android device. Scan results stay on your device. The app does not require an account and does not upload your scan history to our servers.
Information processed on your device
When you scan with the camera or from a gallery image, the app processes image frames locally (including on-device barcode recognition) to read QR codes and barcodes. Scan results may be saved in a local history that can include the raw value, format, content type, timestamps, and favorite status.
App settings such as theme, language, vibrate-on-scan, auto-copy, auto-open links, and whether history is saved are stored in local preferences on the device.
Local history and preferences are excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer rules configured for this app. You can clear history or turn off history saving from Settings.
Camera and photos
Camera permission is requested only to scan codes. The app does not upload camera frames or photos to our servers. If you use Scan Image, the app reads the image you select to detect a code; that image is not uploaded by QRBar.
Generated codes and sharing
When you create a QR code, you may save the image to your device (for example under Pictures/QRBar) or share it through the Android share sheet. Sharing occurs only after you choose a destination app; that destination’s privacy practices then apply.
Batch scan results may be copied or exported by you as CSV through the share sheet. QRBar does not transmit those exports to our servers.
Optional actions you initiate
Depending on the scanned content and your choices, the app may help you open a link in a browser, start a call, compose email or SMS, add a contact, open a map location, suggest a Wi‑Fi network, open the Play Store listing, or search a product code on Google. Those actions use system intents or third-party apps/sites you choose; their privacy practices apply to what you send them.
Auto-open links is off by default for safety.
Advertising
This version of the app does not show ads and does not integrate an advertising SDK. If ads are added in a future release, this page and the relevant store disclosures will be updated before that version ships.
Analytics and crash reporting
QRBar uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (for example which screens are opened, whether a scan succeeded, barcode format/content type categories, and which result actions users tap). These events are processed by Google on our behalf.
Analytics events are designed not to include the raw contents of scanned or generated codes, Wi‑Fi passwords, full URLs, contact details, or camera frames. Typical parameters are categories such as format, content type, source (camera/image), and action names.
QRBar also uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and stability reports (stack traces, device/OS information, and app version). Crash reports are intended for diagnosing failures and are not used to upload scan history or camera frames.
Firebase may also collect standard device and app identifiers used for analytics and crash reporting, as described in Google’s privacy documentation. See the Firebase Privacy and Security page and the Google Privacy Policy.
Information we do not collect
We do not operate a custom backend for this app, require an account, or sell personal information. We do not receive your scan history, camera frames, or QR/barcode payloads on our own servers. Usage analytics and crash reports are limited to the categories described above and are processed via Firebase.
Your choices
- Deny camera permission if you only need features that do not require the camera (some features will be unavailable).
- Turn off saving scan history, clear history, or remove individual items and favorites in the app.
- Keep auto-open links off, or enable it only if you accept the risk of opening scanned URLs.
- Uninstall the app to remove app-private data from that device.
Children's privacy
The app is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older. The app itself does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes how information is collected, used, or shared, this page and the relevant store disclosures will be updated before that version is released. The latest version of this page will always show the effective date below.
